Johnson County On Alert After Fourth Of July Terror Attack Warning

JOHNSON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) — Law Enforcement officials in Johnson County say they are aware of a countrywide warning from federal authorities that terrorists might want to strike during the Fourth of July.

Johnson County has large fireworks displays scheduled for the holiday in Burleson and Cleburne, and according to them there isn’t a credible threat locally.

The heightened sense of caution comes after the federal warning, and was compounded by some earlier concerns that circulated on social media.

Johnson County Precinct 1 Constable Matt Wylie said, “We’re not really doing anything that we haven’t done in the past. We’ve still got a higher presence of law enforcement.”

According to Constable Wylie they are taking the same increased precautions they would for any event involving large crowds.

Scores of people are expected to pack Lakes, Golf Courses, and main roads to see the fireworks displays throughout Johnson County.
