Pedestrians Warned Of Falling Ice In Downtown Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — While rising temperatures are a welcome sight, there’s another threat looming in downtown Dallas — falling ice.

City officials are warning pedestrians that melting ice has begun falling to the ground from high-rise buildings.

“Just use caution, especially when you are walking near the high-rise buildings,” said Kevin Oden, an Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator with the City of Dallas. “Know your surroundings.”

Oden says the city is specifically asking drivers not to use the parking meters in the 1700 block of Main Street until temperatures have melted all of the ice.

He is not aware of any injury accidents having occurred from the falling ice and snow, but piles of fallen debris are visible on city sidewalks.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area saw record snowfall in the storm that began on Wednesday evening.
