Swarm Of Bees Attacks 8 People In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A swarm of bees stung eight people in a northeast Fort Worth neighborhood Sunday afternoon, officials said.

It happened at a house in the 3700 block of Galvez Avenue, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Richard Harrison said.

“There was probably like 100’s of bees. I have never seen that many bees, it was like the cartoons when you see a swarm of bees,” said victim Elizabeth Garcia.

One MedStar paramedic and a civilian who was stung more than 100 times were hospitalized, Harrison said. The elderly man, believed to be in his 70s, was completely covered in bees, witnesses said, and was in and out of consciousness. He was taken to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth.

Four firefighters and the other two victims of the insect attack suffered only minor stings, despite wearing bunker gear for protection.
