AG Warning Texans About Door-To-Door Scams

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – According to the Texas Attorney General, unscrupulous door-to-door salespeople frequent Texas neighborhoods mostly during the summer months.

Officials say they’ve recently seen an increased number of Texas residents who have been scammed by people selling security systems.

The rip-off generally involves someone claiming to be selling security systems or components. Some of the scammers take a different angle and say they work for a security company and have come to a house to test equipment, make repairs, or perform an upgrade.

State officials aren’t claiming that every salesperson is a fraud, but say some are taking advantage of Texans’ trust and are using deceptive tactics to make sales.

As it pertains to security system salespeople the Attorney General’s Office is recommending that protect themselves by following these guidelines:
